Yarn Spinner creates dialogue systems for video games and interactive media. Our tools have been used in award-winning and critically acclaimed titles including Night in the Woods, A Short Hike, Lost in Random, and NORCO. We’re based in beautiful Hobart, Australia, we’ve been in the games industry for a decade and a half, and we’re here to make the best tools for telling stories in the world.
Yarn Spinner is an incredibly popular tool for Unity, with a large community and a well-established product design. We need a contractor to help bring Yarn Spinner to Unreal Engine.
To do this, you’ll be developing the Unreal Engine implementation of our core product, working with the technical lead of Yarn Spinner. You’ll be creating editor plugins for working with Yarn scripts, and driving the development experience for people using Yarn Spinner in Unreal Engine.
We’re looking for a highly experienced person to work on a contract-basis with us for a short time to help jump-start our Unreal Engine product, for us to pick up and continue development.
This is a short-term contract, initially for approximately one month’s work. Depending on how things go, this will be extended to around three months work. As this is a contract, your work will be milestone based. The project you’re contributing to will also be released as open source under the MIT license (as is the rest of the Yarn Spinner project).
This is a remote-only contract. You can be located in any timezone; we’ll work with you to figure out a good time to meet up online. The core Yarn Spinner team is in AEDT/AEST. We’d ideally like you to begin work as soon as possible, but we’re happy to be flexible.
